    How do they push the shovels into the ground? At least they have pointed shovels and not the square edged ones you often see people supposedly digging graves and such with in movies. Whenever I see that I know the director has never actually dug a hole.

    I just read a clickbait article about a hole the Russians dug just over 40,000 feet into the Earth, which still holds the record today. It was significantly hotter than modern science had predicted at the bottom—over 350º F, which turned the rock to a kind of plastic-like state they couldn’t effectively dig through. It took them 24 years to dig it, but now it’s capped.
