Really good to have Go Comics back again. Today’s strip reminds me of two occasions with a boy named Philip Tyler who was one of my closest friends at school.
One time, we were coming out of school and saw a bus marked “Private”. I commented that the Queen’s buses are probably marked “General”. Philip laughed at this and then pointed to a bus from a rival company and said, “Look out! There’s the enemy!” We then talked about machine guns coming out of one of the buses to fire at the other bus.
Another time, we were on the upper deck of a bus and sitting at the front. We pretended that it was an aeroplane which we were flying.
I once had a brother in law who sought the help of a counselor after he had a Come to Jesus moment. You see, after hoping for an airplane disaster for the Ohio State football team, as they were flying in to play the University of Michigan, he realized he’d gone over to the dark side.
Calvin needs a social media audience of 20 million. “Will no one rid me of this troublesome bus?” Then a one-in-a-million crazy will do his bidding for him.
That’s all too true, regarding the last panel. But I like this similar strip from a couple years later better… https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1995/09/29
I’ve found that the best way to eliminate surprises in my life is to carry a real camera with me. If I leave it at home, my whole day is flying saucers and black helicopters, with the occasional exploding bus. I believe photography has saved my life countless times. :)

If you expect or even say something like what you said about the bus, Calvin, then it wouldn’t be a surprise now, would it?

if the bus exploded, Calvin, the school district would just send in another bus

What you can’t tell is that bus actually says, “Military School” on it. Think about that for a minute.

Time for Calvin to learn a little about fate. If you’re expecting a surprise, it’s not.

Hard to find a good snow storm too when you need one. Unless you live in Buffalo.

When I was in school, I always prayed during National Fire Prevention Week that the school would burn down.

Hmmm…. strangely sadistic. Mom and Dad better watch him closely as he grows older.

Actually, in today’s social climate, Calvin could expect to spend the next several hours in law enforcement custody.

Love Calvin’s ranting. Connects with all Young ones waiting for the school bus

At least Keanu Reeves isn’t driving the bus… but then again, I think Calvin would think it was the best bus ride of his life!

Man-O-Man, does this bring back memories of the fantasies I’d have, dreaming of avoiding school.

A question here. Why does it seem like everyone is taking this episode so seriously?
