Supposedly that is how popsicles were invented. Someone left a stick in a glass of juice in an unheated room and it froze over night. I’ve read that old style washbowls used to freeze over too, so I guess rooms weren’t heated.
So assuming it wasn’t frozen when she left the house, it would have to be super cold outside (minus 40 degrees Celsius) to quick freeze that small box of sugar water in such a short amount of time. Ruthie’s face would freeze first.
