Sometimes it takes a little bit of effort to find the perfect spot on a lovely day.

“Perfect” doesn’t require a 3-mile hike down the beach looking for a quiet spot. I’ll settle for “near-perfect”. ;-)

A three hour walk to spend an hour on the beach.

I guess the joke is that trying to find a big rock for back support on a sandy beach is hard but is worth the time and effort.

Don’t worry folks, Florida will rebuild. Hurricanes come and go. Spring break will return next year.

amazing how things have changed

Away from the maddening crowd…..that’s me!

My wife and I will go on vacation to the beach in a couple of weeks. Obviously it is off season. What’s more is that we go to a beach where there is very little night life. We go there to do nothing and we accomplish that very well.

We’ve never been into “store bought” entertainment. My son takes his family on vacation to go skiing, to Hawaii, Disney World … etc. We either go off on our own or visit relatives or friends (This is what you do with leave when you are in the military).

We do take advantage of what the local area has to offer, but at night, we are normally sitting on the balcony. looking at the waves, watching the stars and sipping wine and talking about every possible subject imaginable.

Alone with a book.

She must be reading “Gilgamesh”. Too early in history for much else.

Perfect Solitude

I can never go to the beach without being totally covered up, hat, sunglasses and covered in spf 50

…sigh. I’d like to find her little piece of the beach, but then it would be crowded again.

When in college I used to love settling under a tree on campus to read. I was a pretty boring person.

That strange creature in panel 7 looks like a dog, but that’s clearly impossible because the closest thing to a dog is Wolfie. Perhaps it’s some sort of four-legged shell-less clam…

To me, the perfect spot is not where the setting sun is blaring into my eyes while I try to read, but whatever makes her happy! She worked for that spot. Walking along a beach is wonderful.

My grandson, Ian, lives in Cape Coral, as does his brother and mother & father. They are safe and the house/yard medium damage.

Cavemen have beach umbrellas? If they can make cloth like that, why all the skimpy “suits” for the guys, even when it snows out?

For some, Fall is the new Summer.

It’s rare to find a nice quiet spot on a beach these days. I remember when I was a kid, our family would go to Nags Head in NC. It was close to God’s Country at that time.
