Funny how something that’s not supposed to heard is so deafening.

Yet that horrible grinding sound coming from the car doesn’t get mentioned until the repair cost is ten times what it would have been if something had been said right away…..

If Janis knows the toilet’s running, why doesn’t she get off her wide behind and go jiggle it?

Over the years, I have had refrigerators that have made the weirdest sounds! the one I have now does the usual whirring, groaning, and grinding, but occasionally, it will let out a really loud clunk and then go absolutely quiet, and it’s been doing that as long as I’ve been in this place…

The worst sounds are silent. For instance: Water heater leak, leaky roof, Termites, Mice. Fleas. I could go on.

Janis heard it first, she should get up and do the handle jiggling and then remember to repair it the next day, unless she is smart enough to have an extra set of parts handy.

I usually hear it first. Weird smells, too. Unless it’s chemical cleaner related. She’s very sensitive to paints and petrochemicals.

    Me, I’m fond of strippers.

I read where women’s hearing focuses on everything around her. Men’s hearing focuses on one thing. It is evolutionary as women were listening for predators and where the kids were. Men were listening on where their prey was in the hunt. So biologically women hear a whole lot of things that men normally don’t.

I wish my beloved could hear that sound. I sometimes hear it when going into a toilet I seldom use close to a room she mainly keeps for herself, even though it may have been several days.

You might be a redneck if the most common phrase heard in your house is “Somebody go jiggle the handle!”

In our house chances are he will notice problems that I don’t and if I do and they actually need to be dealt with, I do it myself.

A bulb out in the kitchen? So, there is plenty of light with the other 3 in that fixture and 4 at the end of of the kitchen – but he will insist that we put in a new bulb. And we are now in a situation where we are looking for replacement bulbs for fixtures which no longer have replacement bulbs left in the house due to the change in the bulbs to LEDs. Many rooms have lights which are (were) on timers as in normal times we are out of the house a lot and do this for security. To do this for our ceiling fixtures we would have to have the entire house rewired – literally!!! Our house was built in 1949 and has a 2 wire system. Houses starting at some point in the 1960s were built with a 3 wire system. Wall timer switches that worked with incandescent bulbs could work with the 2 wire system. Same made for LED bulbs cannot. We would have to hire an electrician and pay a fortune to have our entire house rewired, so we are trying very hard to find work arounds so when we start going out again our lights can continue running going on and off on timers. Halogens get too hot and would not want them in the house – especially going on and off on their own. And the LED bulbs have to be replaced so often – much more than the incandescent ones – kitchen bulbs have each had to be replaced about 3 months with the LED – got much more time with the incandescent ones. And there is a LED bulb in each of the two fixtures next to our front door which goes on when it is dark and off when light (which means they will be on many more hours than when we could use a wall timer switch) why does one always go on at least half an hour – sometimes an hour before the other?

It the toilet bowl running – I lift up the lid and fix it – so much quicker and easier than asking him to do it.
