I’ve never tried a weighted blanket, but when my dentist puts a lead cover on me to take an X-ray, I do find it surprisingly soothing.

A long, long time ago (1970’s and 1980’s) an a galaxy far, far away (Republic of Korea), I did a lot of shopping. One of the things you can buy are “Mink Blankets.” They aren’t made of mink, of course. I think it is acrylic, but they are exceptionally “furry” and they weigh about 40 pounds. They have the thermal insulation properties of an artic sleeping bag.

So weighted blankets are now a “thing.” Who knew? I’ve used on for over 40 years now.

A word to the wise. Make sure you use the bathroom before going to bed. Getting out from underneath the covers is an exercise worthy of a gym.

If I’m allowed one serious comment: I hate those things, personally. But if they work for others – to each his own.

That was the only way to keep them from being stolen before the invention of wheel alarms and locking lug nuts.

If that hole in the middle is strategically placed it could lead to interesting games.

I bought one of those weighted blankets, 20# and found for the first ~10 minutes it felt comfortable.. but soon moved to smothering. Gave it away after using it maybe twice.. and I understand.. it has seen two other homes since then.
