I am sure all of these daily strips take more than five minutes. You probably do like two or three of them in a day. For example today’s strip was probably done Wednesday or Tuesday. I am not a comic strip artist but I know it’s not easy. If yourself some credit girl, you killing it over there!
Uh, um. Younger Amanda, it’s five minutes of drawing and then not playing on the phone, but research, inspiration and development! Then you let them draw a comic and have a group critique. That way they’re not as quick to criticize because drawing comics and coming up with ideas is hard!
Don’t miss the trip to the ‘inspirational’ coffee shop. Even grade schools are in to a Venti Latte and Biscotti. They’ll learn to sketch ideas on napkins. A time proven method.
As a cartoonist, I wish all it took was 5 minutes to draw a 4 panel strip! It’s an all day process, just to complete 3 or 4! Though I suspect lil’ Manda was being sarcastic!

The five minutes working on the strip only if you really are lucky. Otherwise it is the rest of the day.

Five minutes of drawing, fourteen hours of research, inspiration and planning?

You can ‘draw’ it out for the kids. Make it sound fun and exciting. Just tell ‘little self’ you get lots of ideas from the phone.

With cookies and lemonade they won’t care what you do.

Anything church related requires cookies and lemonade, although my Lutheran raised wife says that Lutherans prefer coffee.

You could do a “New Yorker” magazine contest and give them some characters and have them come up with a caption.
