It reminded me of a line from The Big Bang Theory show when they were talking about NASA doing this. I think the TV plan was to snag the asteroid in space and then push it into another orbit. One of the characters says something like, “So we want to trust the future of our planet to a bunch of scientists who can’t catch a ball!”. Maybe you had to have been there, but it was funny.
