You can read them aloud to yourself at home.

So, is there still a book section in bookstores? Amazing!

Tried several times but could never appreciate audio books, except the lectures for classes. Audio fiction depended a lot on the reader but very few could read a story like Lionel Barrymore in ‘A Christmas Carol’.

I finally dropped the medium when a male reader tried to do a dialogue between the male lead and his love interest – and produced almost the worst parody of a female voice ever heard in the western world. As the old saw said, He shoulda stood in bed

Subtitled Audio Books? That phrase alone made the joke! I’m going to remember that one.

I remember, back in the Stoned Age, of starting my anime habit and having to choose if I wanted my videotapes in subbed (subtitled) or dubbed version. Now with DVD there are choices available and not just English and Japanese. And the same with the subtitles.
