I generally vote party line unless there is a serious reason not to vote for someone of the party I prefer. I vote party ticket because the party determines the policies, and it’s the policies that I am most interested in. If there were a scoundrel in my party who was only interested in self-serving power, I might vote for a third party. But it is highly unlikely that I would ever vote for someone of the opposite mainline party because I find the party’s morals (as evidenced by its policies) to be unsupportable.
This reminds me of my dearly departed grandparents. Every election they got into an argument over who to vote for. Their biggest jab was, “I’ll cancel out your vote”. This was back in the 50’s and I don’t remember which party either one supported. I’m like cdward, I always vote a straight partyline ticket unless there is some extreme reason not to.

And just how do you know every candidate that “Sonny” voted for? ☺
