Modern sports reporters actually have become verbal essayists. Their topics range all over the known world and only occasionally relate to the broadcast being shown at the time. I guess that’s called the ‘background color’ element but it’s mostly just fog that dampens one’s interest.
As I recall, the Rose Bowl game broadcast normally includes some of the marching band at halftime. You can also see bands by watching the Rose Parade, the morning before the game.

That’s what football games are really for, isn’t it?

Unfortunately, it’s a rare TV broadcast indeed that shows the half-time program at any football game … pro, college or any other.

What channel is HE watching, because the only time you will see a marching band perform at halftime is if you go to the games!

I used to like watching the bands at halftime. Now all you get is a bunch of mindless drivel from a bunch of talking heads.

Networks don’t actually let us watch the games any more. They are too busy doing close ups on faces, and swirling around with that infuriating skycam.

I quit watching college football when they started running games to fit tv requirements instead of running tv to fit games (ditto other sport)
