Took an easy 3 mile round trip hike early yesterday morning on the spectacular June Lake loop still glowing with aspens. Saw another trailhead with a 1 3/4 mile hike to Fern Lake and thought it would be another easy hike. I neglected to check the elevation gain and it turned out to be a very strenuous 1600 foot climb! Beautiful trail among aspens and huge evergreens but I wasn’t planning on such a difficult hike and had Craig’s jack Russell with me (who did just fine, by the way). Some of the rock steps were so tall they required climbing over on hands and knees, at least for me, and the lake itself wasn’t especially beautiful. Still, I’m glad I hung in there after considering turning back after speaking with another hiker halfway up who informed me it continued to get steeper. And LJ got to play with 2 other friendly dogs we met. Dogs are allowed off leash in the Inyo forest and nearly all of the eastern Sierra.

The kittens are getting big and are just so darn cute.

I’m still dealing with this pinched nerve. It’s getting better but sitting in a regular chair is still hard. I do a set of exercises two or three times a day. I have another PT appt on Fri and one next week before we leave.

This is simply LOL funny!

I just discovered my phone went thru 2 cycles in the washing machine. I’d now in a bag of rice. I hope it can be brought back to life, all of Craig’s voicemail is on it.

Really, Chesney? What did Annie ever do to deserve being startled? I hope Uncle Herbert decides to leave Annie alone. On another note, saw three chickadees and a rabbit while out walking today.
