Many years ago, I heard an interview by Terry Gross with Edie Falco. It was very interesting (Falco is an interesting and charming person). At some point, Gross asked a searching question having something to do with the psychological motivations a character. Patiently but firmly, Falco said, “Terry. It’s a te-le-vi-sion show”.
