I think Spitsy just saw the dog butt-kissing scene, and I can agree it was pretty gross.

It’s not that scary, even though he looks weird. It’s still better than the live-action The Cat in the Hat, though that’s a so-bad-it’s-good movie.

5.5/10 This arc is just them watching TV with Nate occasionaly making a solid joke.

Don’t try to make a whole movie out of a half-hour TV special that was based on a book you can read in ten minutes.

I hate the Jim Carrey version of the Grinch movie, too. He also makes me want to barf.

Strip rating: 8/10 another comic I can relate to

The best thing from the Jim Carrey Grinch movie was the Faith Hill song Where Are You Christmas ? It’s literally become a Christmas classic to listen to

I remember as a child, I used to legit have nightmares of The Grinch after watching the Jim Carrey version. I wouldn’t step a foot into the living room in the fear that he would break in and I would coincidentally walk to the living room as soon as he did.

My personal take: I like the original TV cartoon because the original poem (i.e. the full text of the Seuss book) is preserved, with just a handful of additions (e.g. the section following “…all the noise noise noise noise!!” showing the bizarre toys the Who kids are playing with). To me, using the poem as the “spine” of the story is a huge part of the cartoon’s charm. Also; I’ve always thought of the Grinch as a bitter, isolated hermit – so I didn’t care for how Carrey’s Grinch willingly visited Whoville and mingled with the Whos pre-Christmas.

When the “new” version first came out, I didn’t like it, but now it’s one of my favorites, (along with Albert Finney’s Scrooge,) and I won’t even waste my time watching the cartoon Grinch anymore!

My favorite is still the Chuck Jones animated version, but I was utterly charmed by the Jim Carrey version. Obviously as a full-length movie, the story had to be expanded, but I felt it kept the spirit of the original at the same time — a challenging feat successfully achieved. I’ve seen a little of the more recent computer animated version, but it just doesn’t do it for me.
