A plain “Why?” would have sufficed in the last panel!

Looks like Nerwin is already on the way to taking over. He’s already copped the punchline.

Ignore him, Broomie. You’ve been all that and more and I’ve loved you for every one of them. Thanks, Russ.

Dude, to be able to do quality work for over 50 years is just remarkable! My hat goes off to you, even though I don’t wear one…maybe a cap…I wear a cap every once in a while…so, my cap goes off to you!!!

It is hard to contemplate how difficult it must be to illustrate and write a comic strip, day in and day out for 50 years and keep it fresh, much less come up with story arcs. The artists do something I cannot and I thank them for their efforts.

I hate it when comics break the “fourth wall” (talking to the reader or acknowledging their comic existence). Ziggy has become very reliant on this device. I think it’s a sign that the author/artist is running out of ideas.

I have been reading this strip since day one. It’s still funny, and always worth checking out the surreal background art. Of course, I’ve been reading Blondie all my life, and I’m still waiting for it to be funny. (I’m not going to live long enough to see that!)

If Nerwin weren’t just a little-boy troll, Auntie Broom would have zapped him for that! Shame on you, Nerwin. Auntie Broom is all those things and more, a great comic strip for over half a century!

    Congratulations, Russ Myers!

This strip has been one of the few constants in my life. My hometown paper in Oklahoma was one of the first to carry Broomie and it one of the first things I remember being able to read on my own. Russ Myers and his imagination will always have a special place in my heart.
