When they hit this close to home, they aren’t really funny anymore.

Amazed once again on how this strip demonstrates prescience, especially in politics. 50 years old and still dead on.

As much as we might think so, very little has changed in our lives. The so-called ‘digital revolution’ has redirected our attention from the problems that have never been resolved and simply stacked new ones on the old.

It’s only broken for the losing sided.. pretty sure the winning side thinks it’s working as designed.

Factual data about balloting machines: All machines are tested with actual sample ballots before and after the real ballots are counted. Additionally, random sampling of ballots is hand counted and compared to results on a printout. How is this done? The ballots are run in small batches and a printout if those ballot counts are provided. How can you be sure it is accurate? Because the random sampling is totally random by a person physically just grabbing any batch among all of the batches.

Factual data: Hand counting actually has greater possibility of error because humans aren’t perfect.

I remember when this was first published. For fifty years it has been one of my all-time favorite strips, and I have quoted it often.
