I would think “read like an open book” is becoming an archaic simile in the current Internet and FaceBook world. Are Romance novels and “Seventeen Magazine” and general fanzines in print versions nearly at all as popular as they were among teenage girls in 1962? My girl cousins had piles of them. Now, their granddaughters (!) are constantly on-line. (—
