True there are a lot of previews, and actual commercials before the movie lately, but since I never buy snacks/drinks at the theatre these days, I’m good.
This makes me wonder what are the new releases opening this weekend? (I never bothered the check. The big blockbusters wait until Christmas day to open.) Let’s see now; ‘F0ur Sam0sas’, (I missed seeing the first three!), ‘The Quiet Ep1dem1c’ (sounds sick), ‘The Qu1ntessent1al Qu1intuplets Movie’ (eh, a cartoon with a boring name), ‘Christmas With the C@mpbells’ (uhm are the C@mpbells any funny or is it a romance?)I think I’ll stay home and check out NetFl1x.
Send Gladys to the movies with the old battle axe. That’ll give a couple hours of peace. My wife used to take her mother to the movies. I passed. If you can’t pause movie while I hit restroom then I’m not going.
If only we could fast forward like with DVD’s. How can Brutus even afford movie night out? 100 bucks for sure. And another 10 bucks for 2nd Jumbo tub of buttered popcorn.
After buying the jumbo popcorn I’m surprised he has any money left to go back to the concession stand. Between the costs and the overly long trailers, I’ll wait a couple weeks until it’s released on a streaming service.
Actually, he is right. You could consume a tub of popcorn just watching the previews. Another reason that I rarely go out to see a movie aside from the obvious reason that there is rarely anything new coming out worth watching….
If you don’t want to see previews, go a little later and miss most of them. I used to go during the day to movies, and I just went a bit later. That was years ago when they only showed a few previews, and some theatres published the movie start time and some the preview/commercial time. It wasn’t hard to learn which was which.
One thing about all the commercials before the movie, I don’t worry about being late to a movie anymore.
Of course, many decades ago, if you came in late to a movie, you could wait until the next start and leave when you got to where you came in. As long, as it wasn’t a sold out movie, the movie theaters didn’t care. Heck, sometimes you could watch it twice if you wanted to.They likely figured they made up for the loss at the door, with the gain at the concession sales.
Gotta learn to pace yourself, Brutus. While I haven’t been to the movies in a long time, I often preferred to get the candy (not such a fan of popcorn) out of the way during the previews, so I could concentrate on the movie. I also preferred to sneak in my own previously purchased, reasonably priced candy, and avoid paying the obscene prices at the concession stands.

The trailers do seem to take longer to show than the movies themselves these days.;-D

For some reason, I never developed the snacking while watching a movie habit. But 30 minutes of previews is a bit much for me.

He may end up missing the movie. I always fast-forward through the previews on DVD’s. Unfortunately, that’s not an option at the movie theatre.

The previews are so long so that people can enjoy the featured presentation without noisy crunching.

must’ve been a lot of previews to go through that much popcorn… unless it’s not as much as it sounds. :\

The last time I went to a movie there was 5 minutes of trailers and 40 minutes of ads. Some of those ads were also running on tv.

I complained so much about being forced to watch previews, that we quit going to movie theaters over 30 years ago. Saved a lot of money!

I got to believe if Brutus had a jumbo buttered popcorn, Gladys put away at least half of it.
