I’m shocked they invented it too.. though presumibly it’s simply because they were backed into a corner by the other magical races. Either that or some worshipful disaster happened from not having it. It’s been a few months since I read the early strips.
I’m kind of wondering if we’ll ever get the backstory of Evilana Villain-hooves who once created the Scepter of Sparklyness that made anyone within range proclaim her the most beautiful creature in the land, even among unicorns.
That’s what teachers wrote on my papers when I handed them in. So I started asking them, “If this work is average and unremarkable, what does that say about YOU as a teacher?” I was not well-liked. School sucks forever.
It’s funny that for a species that thrives on being perpetually fawned over by others, that they still valued their privacy enough to create something like the Shield of Boringness to try and ensure they could still have that privacy when and where they wanted it.
Unicorns like being fawned…but maybe not for literally every waking hour of their existence.

Doesn’t Marigold do anything admirable that doesn’t require being a unicorn?

“Mustn’t”? I thought Marigold did not speak in grammatical contractions.
Any way, hope Phoebe finds a good admirer of whom Margiold should not be jealous.

It does a splendidly sparkling job of making things boring, even unicorns!
