They gave away free pumpkin pie at work for Thanksgiving. I thought it would be a little eight inch pie, but they were huge 16 inch Costco pies. I couldn’t eat any until I went on my weekly grocery run to get whipped cream. I’ve eaten two slices so far.
Alyssa must have been pretty confident in her skills; because she took them on separately and had to beat both to win the cake, she must think she consistently wins games at least 57% of the time to have at least a 33% overall chance of winning the cake.
Of course, with an edge like that, she also thinks she is at least a 5-to-1 favorite to win at least 1 out of 2 additional games with Kat for the best-of-3 challenge.
Of course, all this assumes that the chances of winning each game really can be modeled by a probability, and independently for each game.
Then again, it may be that Alyssa really wins 90% of all the games she plays because she really is that good! Some people have really amazing skills in unexpected areas.
