We missed something. Yesterday in P2 New Thayer scored the latest touchdown (in the strip anyway). And today Milford is kicking off? Guess it’s a “track meet” in more than the score — multiple events going on simultaneously.
In all reality , Hearing It’s Show Time the Milford Band marches onto the field as the team charges out. Numerous injuries occur and the game is canceled .
P3 gives Snarkers the info we crave. Sign Man made it to the game. Hank is elbowing Kaz and stealing Flounder’s line, this is great! Showtime? Either the Lakers came to Milford or the Mudlarks are sprinting to the showers for halftime drills.
Kudos to Sign Man for being Eco-friendly and repurposing the “Milford Rocks” sign that the kids used during the Linda Linda’s concert at the library a few weeks ago. The efficiency makes Abel Burrito smile.
Gil is old school….like pre-war old school (WW II) no clipboard, no headset, no one in a coach’s box looking down on the field and communicating with him…he just coaches on guts and instinct
In the old, old days, a team that was scored upon could choose to kick off or to receive. The rule might still be on the books, like drop kicking. So maybe Gil elected to kick off after New Thayer scored.
Come on Kaz, get your head back in the game. Off in the corner, shooting the breeze with someone. You call one blitz that works and you think your day is done? And speaking of your day being done, your day is not done until after you’ve read Mopped Up Thorp.

Milford “retains” the ball after a kickoff? Wouldn’t the actual football term be “recovers”?

P1: Hooper gives the signal? Why didn’t Gil just yell it from the sideline?
P2: Marty is so shocked by the onside kick he has a case of EES and crow feet.
P3: Showtime? Cue James Worthy, it’s time to run and gun.

What, they didn’t have Tobias do a Rainbow Kick??

Didn’t the Terriers just score on a pick six? Then Milford does an onside kick?

The team runs on to the field and starts showing the crowd what Gil taught them. Serving lunches cafeteria style.

I’m starting to doubt whether the authors have ever even actually SEEN a football game.

From today’s Comice Curmudgeon:
“Look at that! Oh, right, you can’t, because nobody drew it. Well, take our word for it, it was pretty cool.”

MOP, is Hooper another cartoon tribute to Hoppity Hooper?

According to panel 3, Gil could be guilty of a Sideline infraction.
