Simple is buying one plant and sticking it in the dirt; using a watering can eliminates wasted water.
vaughnrl2003 – we got creamed again! The storm hit my house @ 03:45 and it was mild here compared to south side. The big warning how is flooding; our rain total is 4-6” in 3-4 hours: hail and wind did a number to power poles. One of the storm chasers is locked in his street – looking at piles that broke at base and are angled at 10-15 degrees going across the road. The other result is water rescues.
Yeah, it’s kind of expensive trying to save a few bucks on tomatoes and carrots that I don’t really want anyway. The price of the tractor and plow alone is prohibitive. I tried to harness up the dogs to a shovel, but the SPCA got involved and there was a whole thing. I suppose it’s the salad bar for me.
Being rookies moving to deer country….we built a 40 X 20’ vegetable garden with a 6 ft fence which the deer promptly jumped over & ate all our newly planted garden. We tore that down & put up a 9 ft fence which they couldn’t jump over. Very expensive tomatoes….lol. Wasn’t funny at the time. Then the next spring, the gophers found our garden, ugh, then when we discovered a rattlesnake in there, we moved.

$350.00 for that one tomato you will get, and that’s on top of the water bill.

Can’t afford food until the “crops” come in a couple of months. That’s real farming.

Ergo, it takes a lot of folding green to have a green thumb.

Um … define “simple”, comic Cathy.
Versus the everyday craziness of life? OK. But … yeah. Only our favorite Whack-a-Doodle, huh? [smile]
HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, “Cathy” Clan.
