One of my favorite SF short stories looks over the shoulder of a taxpayer near April 15th as he works with the household bot to decide which government projects he’ll fund with his taxes… and try as he might, he’ simply can’t use up the tax amount on projects they offer. So he fills in the blank to fund Peace and prosperity for everyone. And it turned out that so many other taxpayers wrote that in that year that… they actually did it! And lived happily ever after!

Note that the strangest part is the idea that the taxpayers actually get to vote for government projects with THEIR tax dollars.

I’m sure Calvin likes gambling anyway, so go for it.

Calvin always seems to have a stressful December but he’s happy on Christmas Day. He did say one Christmas Morning, “Exoneration on all charges!”

Cal’s risk averse – when he’s thinking. When he’s in the throes of imagination, he’s daring.

Yeah, I guess so. I mean really, sometimes you can miss judge nice people and they actually give you what you ask for. Tricky, they are.

So, if I ask for 20 months of political campaigns, Santa will cut it to 60 days?

One Christmas our older daughter had asked for a specific doll. We got it for her, but forgot to pull it out when we pulled out the other gifts. Christmas morning the girls opened their gifts & were pleased. Later in the morning, we asked if they were happy. Our older daughter smiled & said that, while she didn’t get everything she asked for, she was quite happy with what she got. It was then that we remembered the doll & pulled it out. The look on her face was priceless, but we were also so happy with her attitude.

So now we know who came up with the “Dear Santa, I don’t want any gifts, I just want the USA to win the World Cup” commercial. Enjoy that lump of coal.

In my 50’s, someone asked if Santa had been good to me. I said, yes, because I had been good all year . . . I didn’t intend to be, it just worked out that way.

Fella, at age six if you understand psychology, you are smartest kid in the class. Reverse psychology can wait. Pity, Mrs Wormwood for not discovering this.
