FERNY! FERNY HAS FINALLY RETURNED! OH HAPPY DAY.Seriously i’ve been waiting for neigh to come back since I started reading daily again. I just assumed this was going to be another one off gag with some unicorn we’ve never met before but who is now living rent free in my heart. let. my. ship. progresssss
Even though Ferny is nice and is certainly not as spooky as the last two, could it still be a bad sign that the next Christmas might be connected with death or something sinister?
Some liberties were taken with the original novel:
The Phantom-corn slowly, gravely, silently approached. When it came near her, Phoebenezer bent down upon her knee; for in the very air in which this Spirit-corn moved it seemed to scatter gloom and mystery.
It was shrouded in a deep black garment, which concealed its head, its face, its form, and left nothing of it visible save one protruding horn.
She felt that it was tall and stately when it came beside her, and that its mysterious presence filled her with a solemn dread. She knew no more, for the Spirit-corn neither neighed nor moved.
“I am in the presence of the Unicorn of Christmas Yet To Come?” said Phoebenezer.
The Spirit-corn neighed not, but pointed onward with its horn.

And the moral of the story is…
I have no idea. What does Phoebe even need to be taught?

What Christmas future will neigh show her? Methinks a loving time with Marigold.

So instead of some revelation, they just chat and exchange gifts.
Yes I use they referring to both Ferny and Phoebe, otherwise it would be Neigh.

Ah, now I get it. It’s an excuse to shoehorn in a Ferny cameo. Justified.

Since the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come remains shrouded throughout the entire story, I was expecting Lord Splendid Humility to play the rôle.
