Dad is my idol, love it when he shows his cyclist chops. Meanwhile, in Real Life, Finland shows how it’s done in cold and on snow. https://youtu.be/Uhx-26GfCBU
I do every day, but the snow is generally not very deep here and people sand the sidewalks. If there is a bad spot I push a bit. I am 79 but self-employed and go to work at my weavery.
I once hit my optimum heart rate when I hit a patch of ice and skidded under a dump truck that fortunately was in the process of slowing for a stop sign.
We usually rode our bikes to class in the snow while I was attending university in northern Michigan. By the time others had shoveled their cars out and found a parking spot, we were there waiting. Good times.
He’s not stubborn. He’s dedicated. Frankly, in that stuff he’ll be worn out by the end of the driveway. Probably got a workout putting on all the cold weather gear.
I used to live in Gunnison, CO. Very cold and snowy winters there. My next-door neighbor rode his bike to work every day year-round. He had studded tires and rode even when it was icy. It was two or three miles one way.
Where I live, rich people ride up n down the street on $6000 “fat tire” bikes so they can posture themselves as “outdoorsy”.But there’s also REAL bike riders who ride in the snow, either to commute or for exercise (or both!).

I’ve seen people ride year around. They just change their tires to suit the surface.

Count my lucky stars I quit the road bike before being run over by a motorist, like Shawn Bradley and David Feherty were.

You should have an indoor exercise bike…accomplishes the same task and you don’t have to worry about the snow…

It’s not the snow that worries me this time of year – it’s all the rock salt that gets poured onto the streets, that stuff destroys bikes.

We hope each of you has a wonderful New Year and pray that you will find peace and friendship, wherever and whoever you are.
And, as this is my 87th new year, my sweet blue-eyed girl’s 82nd, and our 60th anniversary, we will add this that we have learned.
One sure pattern for life is to hold tight to your families and loved ones, your deepest beliefs, and your sense of what is right.
Hold tight to your self-respect, your respect for others, and your love of your country
Hold tight to the truth that, while no one is your better, no one is less.
Hold tight as bad as your pain is, others suffer more.
Know it is up to you – always has been and always will be.
Hold Tight

I saw dumb cyclists on campus in worse conditions: on glare ice, even. Idiotic. Physics took over and over they’d go.
