Tell this to Foxy. She licks butter every chance she gets. She also likes a little mayonnaise.

Butter is dairy, so many cats love it.

My late, lamented Nimitz would get on the counter and lick the edges of the butter dish because he could reach it.

    OT

It is in the 0 temps here and I know that it is colder north of me. For those of you north of me, please stay safe and know that you are in my prayers. It is in the 0 degree here and moving to -1 and -2 or even lower here. I pray for everyone that is in the US that is experiencing the cold vortex that is beyond normal to be able to survive this and come out stronger for it, just have faith in your higher power and you’ll get thru it. I’m having faith in my higher power to get through this!! And I’m praying for you all to get through this too, through my Higher power! Love you all!!

    Abba: Gimme Gimme Gimme

    Half past dinner

And I’m watching the Man and the kids popping corn

How I wish for just a taste, just a piece of my own

    Need some butter

Just add a bit of flavor for this hungry meese!

And all I ask is just one tiny piece if you please!

    …….

    So much popcorn there

    Cat, please answer my prayer!

    …….

Gimme, gimme, gimme just one piece of popcorn

Just one single taste to chase the blues away!

Gimme, gimme, gimme just one piece of popcorn,

And maybe some ham or bacon to get through the day!

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

    At Punn State University

Alice-Ata: Class, let’s review the five rules of cheeetaking:

    1. Never take more than you can lift

    2. Always be aware of your surroundings

    3. Have an alternate escape route just in case

    4. Make sure no one is watching

    5. Enjoy your cheese!

Violet-Ifa: Also remember don’t be too greedy. Just greedy enough. Remember, there is enough cheese for everyone.

Ta-Natash: And if you run into trouble, remember your friends have your back.

    Agnes-Ata: Now, let’s all say our motto together, 1, 2, 3!

    All: We’ll Never Tell!

O/T: Oliver had his vet visit yesterday (appointment moved up due to impending blizzard.) Doc thinks he’s about 3yrs old & probably a wayward housecat judging by his tameness. He got wormed & vaxxed for distemper & rabies & scheduled for ‘fixing’ (though he isn’t broken.) Like most cats, he hated the car ride, but forgave us with head-butts & biscuit paws & had a good meal when we got home.

My cats always want to sample just the smallest bits of popcorn. I don’t use butter and just a few pinches of salt to a bowl. With that recipe, they find one kernel, broken into pieces satisfies their … curiosity.

My dog is thwarted in his popcorn begging because of that one dog of my childhood who always begged for popcorn and then yarked it all right back at us.

Mr Kitty wanted two kernels. One for licking, and one for killing and hiding under the china cabinet to fossilize.

    O Buttertown, O Buttertown

    How lovely are thy sticks!

    O, Buttertown, O Buttertown

    Glory in the sacred dish!

How lovely are thy pats of gold,

So tempting to the meezer bold.

    O Buttertown, O Buttertown

    A creamy dream to be-hold!

Come on, Puck, give Elvis one piece of unseasoned popcorn. He will lose interest quickly because it isn’t seasoned.

OT, I went to the bakery/deli in my neighbourhood. They were out of mince tarts (bummer), but I got lots of other baked goods. What drove Smudge nuts was the smell of the roast beef/salami sandwich I got for my dinner tonight. I’ve promised him some of the roast beef when I take it out to eat. Mouse isn’t interested at all in people foods.

I took the old 1940s Kenmore popcorn popper to college with me (it worked for heating soup, too, if you were extremely careful) and kept it for many years afterward. Finally tossed it when the cord reached super-scary condition and I was unable to find a replacement. It was probably a fire hazard anyway, you had to watch it like a hawk because there was no on/off switch and it had only one temperature—red (literally) hot!
