A quintillion+ or more worlds each very similar and yet unique of parallels. You can find numerous versions of yourself many just like you and is you. It all seems rather pointless after finding that out, isn’t it? You are doing everything probably right and wrong and silly and maybe even crazy happens. Only you know here there is just one world and one you.
Given the “era age” that comics do, and that the cardoodle books were from before the war, that kid might be Duffy, not Little Brother. So Duff finds that he cannot succeed since Cardstock LB doesn’t exist yet. He’ll never get to. He has already lost the only life he’ll get.
That is a sad Duffy. There is really nothing he can do. He can’t get to his brother as he is not Marx. He can’t reach over the boundaries. His brother and his Cardoodle self will soon be vaporized as the sun goes nova. Duffy is one of those 50 percenters I would wager. Question is does Duffy return and move on or stay till the end? Finally Terrence said something!
Will Duffy try to rescue him from the end of this reality and drag him along through whatever is coming, or leave him here with this Duffy to be happy to the end. There is no Win-win with this.
It’s so unclear what Marx’s powers are, and what limits his powers have. Can he rescue Cracked Cat but not any of the others? Or could he only salvage Cracky because he had Wally’s “soul”?
The intrusion of the grey path/pier in front of our also grey Duffy into the last two otherwise full color panels is intriguing. We’ll see. Absolutely beautiful comic, as usual, and now finally in improved GoComics graphics enabling non-pixelated blow up of the image to full screen on my 24" monitor.
I don’t know what Neathery has in store but i’ll call it this way….Duffy will choose to be left behind to die with his grandfather and his younger brother rather than go on without them.
He found a version of his brother, but not HIS brother. He can’t take this version away without infusing him with his brother’s essence. And this version has a brother who will literally die for him. He realizes that now.
That’s Tuffy and his little brother Skeeter on the dock. While they are not Duffy and Benny, it’s obvious that bond carried over to Duffy and Benny. But he also carries a lot of guilt for whatever happened to Benny. Duffy had really hoped to find Benny. He has, and he hasn’t. Duffy is not the same wise-ass that he seemed to be when we met him. Now, it seems a lot of that behavior was…armor. Poor kid.
In case anyone else has wondered about that cap…. When I was younger, I used to see that style of cap on various media characters ( Bowery Boys, Goober Pyle, Jughead Jones) and wondered what the hell it was. They were called “whoopee caps”, and were made from discarded fedoras. Feel free to use your favorite search app to check.

Wow, great artwork, once again.
And such pathos in those last 4 frames…
What percentage cardoodle is Duffy? 49%? 51%
Will he choose to stay for the death of this world? Or will he remember that he may still have a brother some … well, some place?

Watching his little brother, so happy with a grandfather, and knowing his world is about the end. Is it any wonder there are tears?

Oh my; That would be gut wrenching to see, indeed. Especially knowing about what’s going to happen with that sun as soon as time starts ticking again.

Curious. I didn’t notice the dark figure at the docks edge, at first.
What dreams may come. So close and yet so far. How I wonder what you are?

Is Duffy actually the little kid on the dock?

How do we know the cardoodle percentages?
I have a feeling big bro is probably less that 50% and he’s about to go off the deep end.
Maybe.
