The laundry sheets Joe gave me for Christmas last year are called TruEarth. I was impressed with them when I used them on a white sweatshirt that had some yellow stains on it. I don’t know what caused the stains. It looked like it might have been from vegetable oil, but I just don’t know. I had tried so many laundry pre-treaters on it but nothing took out the stains. But when I used these laundry sheets, the stain disappeared. Finally! Their website is www.Tru.Earth

Speaking of Christmas gifts, I did buy myself one Christmas gift. A while back, my upright freezer died. I didn’t know it had died until I decided one night to have a dish of ice cream. When I got it out of the freezer, I discovered I had ice cream soup. Everything in the freezer was completely thawed and I had to throw it all out. It was a pretty old freezer, so I guess its demise should not have come as a surprise, but I was pretty bummed about it. I looked on the internet to shop for a new freezer. I saw one I liked at Best Buy. So I went there to check it out. Well, all they carry in stock is a huge one for around $999. Not what I wanted. They said they could order the one I liked, but then there were so many hidden charges. I thought they had free delivery. But no, that’s only on higher priced stuff. There would be a $75 delivery charge for my freezer, they said. But when I told them where I live, they said that’s outside their delivery area and the delivery charge would be $40 more than that. The delivery charge would cost about as much as the freezer! And they only deliver on Tuesdays and Fridays. My days off are Mondays and Thursdays. So, I decided that was not meant to be. I ended up getting a small chest freezer from Walmart (5 cubic feet) for $147 after my discount. I was able to fit it in my vehicle to take it home myself. To be honest, the old freezer was a little bigger than I really needed and I think this smaller one will be big enough. I do wish it was just a little bigger, but then it would have been too big for me to get it in my vehicle and bring it in the house by myself. Now I’m going to need help getting the old freezer out of the house and finding a way to dispose of it. Daniel or Mark will help get it out of the house.
Lily, Woof and Jack and ??? are missing. We are finally getting a little rain from this huge storm up in the mountains, but it’s in the high 30s here, too warm for snow. Maybe a little tonight. The wind is expected to continue howling all day. Fred’s PT appointment tomorrow morning will be an interesting drive – she’s in a tiny community off a dirt road at a higher elevation and the plows will be stretched thin on the major highways. But I don’t mind driving on snow and ice when I have the road to myself.
The young woman that took the tortie on Fri night called me yesterday and asked if the kitten meowed a lot. I said no, but she was probably calling for her mama. After talking, I said we’d go pick her up and bring her back until after the spay date. Honestly, I thought it was too soon to separate them but I did was I was told to do by Susan. After lunch and all of our errands, we drove over and picked her up. She texted last night several times asking if she did the right thing, and that she felt bad. I told her no, I t think it was the RIGHT thing to do. The kitten was fine. I’d wiped her down with a damp cloth to rid her of any ‘outside’ scents. When I took her out of the carrier, she went immediately to her favorite toy. I checked on her all evening and she was playing with her siblings, and even snuggled with mama. Two more weeks until they get spayed and then it will be time to go back to her new home.
Would be nice if all wishes came true. Well, maybe not all wishes, just the good, harmless ones. On another note, saw four nuthatches while out walking today.
