I had a flatmate like this. When I expressed dissatisfaction that he was using my things in the kitchen and then not washing them up, he told me I was lazy.
But he was a man-child, expecting anyone else (his mother, girlfriend, and probably now wife) to clean up after him so he didn’t have to.
I’ve come across an amazing number of similar people since. Always proclaiming they’re in charge and you have to go through them for anything to be accomplished, but not actually responsible for anything being done or being done right either. They were ‘Managers’, when they really should have been in politics!
Hikers motto “Earn your view”. Backcountry skiers motto “Earn your turns”. Tobogganers motto “Don’t kneel in front to steer, when you jump the stone wall at the bottom of the hill you will break off one of your front teeth”….
No one seems to have commented on the fact that Calvin was only trudging up the hill and complaining about it while Hobbes was trudging up the hill and pulling the sled. Now Calvin has to pull the sled himself.
Calvin’s thoughts here match mine pretty exactly. That’s why I tended to lose interest in sledding pretty quickly. I only remember once or twice that I actually invested a significant amount of time in it, and that only because I didn’t want to seem ungrateful to my parents by asking them to take me home so soon after they’d gone out of their way to bring me to the hill.

Gee, I wonder where Hobbes gets that from…

“You can’t ride the sled if you don’t climb the hills.”
That quote sounds deeper than it actually is, and I feel like you could use it in many situations.

You could put snow on a conveyer belt that’s going uphill and have and infinite downhill slope.

Just remember that it is all down hill from the top.

I resent that climbing hills may end up building character.

The word is “User”. And not in a good way. I always wondered if the “Users” folder in Windows was chosen with tongue in cheek…….

Unfortunately, the tiger powered sled lift did not have enough backers to go beyond the concept stage.

Not quite the right solution to the problem, Calvin.

Yep, trudging back up the hills was always the most difficult part of sledding.

Mountain tops are so overrated. Everybody wants to climb mountains, but the peaks are just barren rock. Life is in the valleys, not the summits.
