While the rest of the class debated whether the answer was 39 or 40, I kept quiet while wondering how I ended up with 9. Suffice it to say math and I have not been on speaking terms since 2nd grade.
Chuck should have sat with Marcie instead. She would probably on the same page as “Charles” most of the time and probably would get more answers correct than Chuck as opposed to P Patty who has been known to get the occasional “Z” grade from her teacher.
Farthest I ever got was trigonometry (never said I understood it). To me a sine was something that stuck out of the ground on street corners, cosine was something you did on loan applications, and tangent was something I would go off on in conversations.
Because it’s new math, new-hoo-hoo math, It won’t do you a bit of good to review math, It’s so simple, so very simple, that only a child could do it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6OaYPVueW4
When this was adapted into “Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown,” the math question was dividing 75 by 25 (yep, the teacher spoke clear English!) Peppermint Patty woke up from her nap and said “I’m awake, I’m awake! The answer is twelve!” When the teacher says it’s incorrect, the dialogue from this strip then plays out.

You would have been made a fool when the teacher says that is incorrect and another student says 3,

When she enters high school, she’ll get poor grades in algebra, geometry, and trig, just like I did.

If the question was “Name one of 5’s sisters.” Charlie Brown is right cause their names are 3 & 4. And they all appear in A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Come up on a famous PP saying in one, which was also the title of one of the books. No spoilers, though.
