How soon they forget. Just two days ago the Chief was toasting Thornapple for being such a prosperous new year!

Brutus’ annual salary is in the ‘millions of dollars’? He must be much more valuable to the company than the Chief gives him credit for. He doesn’t want to admit it though.

Keep your idea, he doesn’t deserve it

I retired at 53 a second time. Then they offered me a lot of money to come back again. I’m still laughing. 23 years ago. I doubt they want me now.

Brutus may have a Robert Crandall idea.

This may well be apocryphal, but supposedly, Robert Crandall, the head of American Airlines in the 80’s came up with the idea to remove 1 olive from the salads on a flight across the airline. According to the story, the move saved AA $100,000 a year.

Wow! Haven’t seen that many bags of cash next to the Boss’s desk in quite some time. Stock market must be overheating?

Chief’s a funny guy. He’s a treasure. That should be buried. Actually, if he treats every employee the same as he treats Brutus, that is a business model destined for the destruction of his company. Then again, it just may be Chief’s and Brutus’s personal relationship and Chief will appreciate the idea once he hears it….

It’s almost as if Thorny is a born loser or something…

I’m surprise the boss didn’t pass out in shock in the first panel, Thorny have an idea?

He could hear Brutus out first, but that would be out of character, since he doesn’t really listen. Brutus should just go back to his office and do his work. If he had big ambitions, he could take his idea to a competitor, assuming his idea would apply to businesses other than tea cozies. He won’t do that.

Than you wouldn’t have a whipping post.

the companies i worked for could’ve saved lots of money by paying me not to come to work…

Although it is the normal “shtick” of the comic, today it makes me feel especially sad for Brutus. That is a crappy thing to tell him (or anyone).
