Jon must’ve done the max tension for the max time to have over stressed his legs after one use. Jon should stick to cartooning as anything more physical than that will lead him to all out failure.
I can still feel exactly how it felt! I’d been recuperating for several months after a bad car accident and subsequent spinal surgery (in my early twenties, almost 20yrs ago) when I decided it was time to step up the rehab and get back into shape!
So I dug out my bike and went for a spin. I had a basket on it so I decided to pedal into the small town we lived outside of and run into the grocery store, just under 10 miles round trip (including a rather large/steep overpass).
I had a nice ride and was feeling pretty good until the next morning lol at which point my thigh muscles were so sore I was almost in tears! They were so excruciatingly tender that just a sheet brushing over them felt like torture!

Jon didn’t buy an exercise bike, but rather a coat rack.

Garfield’s barely moved his legs in more than 4 decades
you mean it’s all because he overworked his muscles?!?

Carrying the exercise bike, must’ve worn Jon out.

If Jon really can’t move his legs after just taking the exercise bike out of the box, then he really is pathetic.

the problem with a lot of exercise equipment is… people overdo it on first try, and then there’s no 2nd try

Seeing Jon unable to move pleases Garfield.

I went through the same thing after getting on the stair climbing machine after a hiatus. I couldn’t get through the whole workout.

“CAN’T MOVE YOUR LEGS?”
“NOPE”
(imagines a different version of the panel of this cartoon not involving these parts of its dialogue)
