Shaved my head about 12 years ago and I’m really happy with the look. However. I got tired of cutting my head with my razor, so I go in for a super buzz cut every two weeks.
My ponytail reaches the middle of my back. As I’ve said, if my hair gets thin enough the ponytail looks silly, I’ll shave my head. I’ve got a nifty 5" scar from brain surgery…
I just watched an early episode of “Stargate SG-1”, titled “Hathor”, and this comic reminded me of a humorous exchange. Hathor is an ancient Egyptian “Goddess”, newly “awakened” from thousands of years of suspended animation, and General Hammond and Jack O’Neil have finished questioning her and are leaving the room (Oh, and Hammond is bald):
What is it about men wanting to shave their heads anyway? I think it looks ridiculous, and as a 70 year old white guy, there is no way I’d do it unless I knew I was going in for chemo or something like that and would lose it anyway (I’d try for the G. Gordon Liddy look). Having fought to let my hair be fairly long as a teen, and having kept most of it without much thinning as I’ve aged, I’m very proud of it now and can’t imagine surrendering to this crazy idea. Besides, having longish hair and a beard is what we, as adult male humans, “really look like”!
That being said, I will admit that a shaved head often looks really good on black men (I’m thinking of Avery Brooks as an example). I don’t know why this is, it’s just my opinion. Maybe it gives old white guys too much of a “cue ball” look. OK, I’ll get off my soap box and shut up now.
We are 18th century reenactors so husband has long hair kept in a ponytail (aka queue when doing reenacting) and I have had long hair most of my life – keep it up now in a plastic clip (metal barrette when doing reenacting as easier to keep under repro cap).
When my hair gets too long for me, I put it in a pony tail and throw same over my head and take a snip to shorten it. If not even it does not matter as no one sees the ends but us.
When his hair gets too long he puts it in pony tail and I take a snip to shorten it for him. Then since the sides of his hair are not kept long I take a snip off each of them (sometimes need an extra snip to even them off)) and use his electric razor to clear up the stubble that forms in some areas which are not long.
When the pandemic started we had no problem with getting our hair cut – same as any other time.

Might want to trim back those nose hairs while you’re at it.

Well so much for the age of Aquarius. And I’m sure his fleas were disappointed to be evicted.

I’m due for a haircut, not quite that much
I grow it out until it’s a bit shaggy, then cut it down to an almost military buzz
The reaction is lots of fun

Still, a Dad Bod. Swaggering an open shirt over a white t-shirt. Obviously not a casual Friday for him.

[Both men stop. O’NEILL looks at HAMMOND.]
O’NEILL: She might mean you, sir.

@WF11
I think some guys see their hair disappearing and just decide to “end it all” at once and be done with it.
Personally (as another 70+yo white guy), I don’t much like the look.
