This is actually a good dieting strategy, provided you immediately wrap up the other half and refrigerate it.
I grew up in a relatively poor household and it is really, really hard to break that “clean your plate” habit. It is one of the reasons I rarely eat at restaurants. Often the serving-size is set for the “biggest” complainer.

As I understand it, some of the calories actually do fall out of the cut ends. ;-)

That might work, Cliff, if you’d eat half at lunch and half at dinner. But, I know that’s not what you’re thinking.

It’s the non-diet diet. Now cliff will need to cut himself in half.

Comedienne Rita Rudner once said that she dieted by only eating half of the desert. Of course, if she really liked it, she’d order two.

It might work if the server also chewed and swallowed half for him.

I first saw this joke made by Little Lulu in a Richie Rich comic book 60 years ago. I thought it was so hilarious I shared it with Mom.

I used to do the same thing with my Foot Long sandwiches.
It makes them much easier to handle.
