We only had one who tugged at the leash problematically. The rest were content to amble along at one side or the other. We allowed them to stop and smell the roses as it were on our jaunts. They seemed to enjoy it.

Dogs who must get in front of their owners are dominant over their owners. Buckles is a puppy, he has yet to learn to “heel” if anyone bothers to teach him. My dog walks on my side or slightly behind me, no need for correction any more even though I adopted her from hunters who taught no obedience, no need for it while hunting, but lots of long walks and gentle persistence on my part taught my dog to be a joy to walk with. Plus, a tired dog is a good dog. All that sniffing around the neighborhood seems to be a lot of work.

Buckles, you need to leash so you don’t get lost from your family.

I remember Wishbone sometimes has a problem with being put on a leash, just like Buckles here.
