What a waste of money. If I am passing from an incurable disease I want to be blasted into space while I’m alive to enjoy it. Let the system slowly, imperceptibly, reduce my O2 until I pass out and peacefully die.
That would be an incredibly expensive funeral. The amount of energy it takes (and thus the cost of fuel) to get something out of Earth’s gravity well into a solar orbit is extremely high. Getting something out into deep space is even more costly.
He might as well just have himself interred next to an AM talk-radio transmitter. Same wasteland, much lower energy cost.

Wait … what’s the difference between what Weenus has been experiencing now and a burial in space?

They are put in low orbit to quickly decay and burn up otherwise more space junk.
