Note: it’s only male groundhogs that get up in mid-winter. They do so to establish territory, chase away rival males, and check out if their are any local females. The females sensiably keep hibernating until it’s warmer.
Have a blessed Imbolc; pagan midway from Solstice to Equinox. Plus or minus wiggle room from man’s calendars not quite matching the heavens, Lunar New Year.

How can the groundhog sleep another six weeks with all the construction commotion ?
However “Gent” says it, six weeks is six weeks.

I always told my students a for of that. If he sees his shadow, six more weeks of winter. If not, then it is only a month and a half.

I thought if he didn’t see his shadow then Spring started six weeks early. Weather-wise anyway.

In South Texas, the groundhog isn’t our prediction. The mesquite trees are much more accurate.

Groundhog day is when you are supposed to eat pork sausage. After all, pork sausage is ground hog.
