Somebody’s definitely going to say it, so here it is . . .

That cake is definitely not from the Restaurant At The End Of The Galaxy.

Yeah, that just might put a damper on the mood of the party.

My talking cake, a cake with a talking microchip embedded in the plate, would probably say, “Oooo, that feel’s so good.”

This reminds me of a story from STNG where Data has a dream where Counselor Troy is represented as a cellular peptide cake, with mint frosting. Her reaction to his cutting has a similar reaction.

But the kids might be fans of the horror genre.

Duh…

You can’t stop now, you have done irreparable damage to the cake. The only solution is to keep going.

Be strong. We’ll all get through this.

I don’t know how many readers ever saw the show “Turkey Television” that aired on Nickelodeon in the mid-1980s. There was a series of shorts on the show entitled, " A Day in the Life of a Food", in which this guy would make ridiculous noises that were supposed to be food screaming in pain while it was being eaten or prepared. Lt. Pam Snap about to cut the talking birthday cake reminded me of those sketches.

Wait till it starts swearing.

Obviously a GMOhhhhhhhhhh cake.

Didn’t the cake complain when she was sticking the candles in it? That should have clued her in.

Well, if today’s strip doesn’t take the cake…! o<[|;o)

We all knew that was coming.

Talking bakery items work better as donuts. Eat them quickly before they complain.

Pam is a highly intelligent woman, but the most unusual situation of a sentient being who resembles a donut opening up a “bakery” on the space station, with sentient beings who resemble baked goods, and maybe she assumes that the talking cake might have been some kind of technology leads us to this hilarious bit of oddness.

Well, that answers THAT question.
