What kind of bet is that? He was going to cut the brush anyhow. The A&J Perverse Mind Club can only imagine what Janis’ bet was. And their minds are reeling with the euphemism potentials of “cut the brush behind the garage”.
I call my mom on Sunday nights at 7 pm and we talk for an hour. Mom is 94 and in a nursing home – between them putting her to bed early and my being a late night person this is the overlapping time we are both able to get together.
I did not grow up in a big sports fan family. Dad occasionally would watch basketball or a World Series game – that was about it. Mom had nothing to do with sports.
I called mom for usual Sunday night call and she started off asking me how she could see the Superbowl. This shocked the hell out of me. I explained to her that I would look up which channel it was to be on and she would have to find it on her “Roku”. Mom does not completely understand how Roku works – plus I found out that she thinks that this is now the only way to watch TV. (“They don’t have numbers for the channels any more.”) She told me it was on CBS. I reminded her that the week before she had told me that she did not get CBS – “only CBS news”. (I later found it out it had been on Fox.) I went through the explanation – again – with her that she would have to ask my sister which channels she has. Why my sister would not make sure mom had the basic broadcast channels I have no idea.
I am not sure where her sudden interest in seeing the game came from (nor if she had confused it with the World Series). I will have to ask my sister more about what mom has on her Roku as she does not seem to have the local channels.

For me, about the only good thing about the Superbowl is that snack food is on sale cheap at the local grocery store.
Also traffic on the road is generally light that day.

I just regret that all my classic rock stars are now too old to pull off a SB halftime show. And now even my sons are older than the QBs!
