I’m so glad we have dumpsters in the alley. I just know I’d forget if I had to put out bins on a certain day (especially since I can’t be certain what day it is).
I tell ya I don’t get no respect, the other day I ran out with the garbage, I asked the garbage men if i was too late, they said No! Jump in! No respect.
Trash goes out on Monday night for Tuesday pickup. Recycling goes out Wednesday night for Thursday pickup. Food scraps go into the compost heap. It is not unusual for us to skip trash pickup at least once a month.
20 years ago, a dog was foisted on me, without me wanting it.
I would take it out, to the train tracks near my apartment, and let it do its business (it was a small Lhasa Apso mix).
Once a week, I’d also take a grocery bag of garbage, go around to the large commercial ice making plant, and toss it into their dumpster. I was paying 85% of my income to rent at the time, and couldn’t afford to feed myself, let alone buy garbage bag tags.
No kids living with us so I can skip a week without issue. When I lived in Florida the trash was picked up twice a week, presumably because of the heat.
It would have made a really interesting story arc for Adam to drive to the dump and take the kids with him. A can just imagine Clayton or Katy. Where we live, there is a re-store at the site also, and the kids are just in seventh heaven when they see all those discarded toys….
How about you only distribute HALF of it? Then tomorrow you can stand outside next to your half full can and ask your neighbors, “Man, did they get your house too? Oh my goodness!”
One thing I do – since we take the garbage bag from the kitchen and put it out directly for Monday pickup on Sunday nights, on Sunday nights I throw out whatever needs to go out from our refrigerator since if I threw out food earlier in the week which was no longer edible due to being in fridge too long, garbage and kitchen would smell terrible by Sunday.

Adam wants to share the stink. Although he might want to do a search on “Theft of Services”.

Our trash is picked up twice a week
Most weeks we don’t have enough to fill it once so missing a day is not a problem
Today is trash day and I did skip the last one so it really should go out
I was off last night and it’s cold out there, now I have a problem

I like to use local dumpsters. At night, of course.

You’d think that, after doing the again, he’d remember to take the trash out.

I do that when I have too much, but I wait until after they put the cans out on trash eve.
