I still have letters FROM an old girlfriend (somewhere) but none TO an old girlfriend.

I’d like to know why be has them, too. Did she give them back to him? He never sent them?

How did HE wind up with letters that were sent to his ex?

So…..

It’s possible he made copies of the letters before he sent them, either (a) because he was pleased with his own erudition, or (b) because the girlfriend in question was prone to misinterpreting or misremembering what he’d written, and he might need them to settle later arguments.

Some people never through anything away. It’s time for our hero to purge, I guess
