I wonder how soon after the space walk the astronauts lose their finger nails and do they also lose their toe nails?

Well, I hope those viruses don’t seed and multiply up in the clouds, or we’re all wet.

Astronauts spending long periods up in spacecraft also suffer bone loss, and the effects of exposure to long term solar radiation, as on a trip to Mars, are not fully known.

I wonder if Hawking thought that computer AI itself could eventually come to act as a “life form”.

I once lost a fingernail (not spacewalking, but a car repair mishap, believe it or not). I was amazed to learn how important fingernails are: without a fingernail to impart structural integrity, your fingertip (beyond the underlying bone) just bends.

Having lost a fingernail once, all I can say is OUCH! And I’m now getting phantom pains 40 years later!

Actually our own star will become a Death Star red giant in 4 Billion years or so, if climate change doesn’t get us before then.
