I adopted my dog at age 6. The first morning here, I woke up to growling. She had not shown any signs of any kind of aggression whatsoever, so I looked up and she was looking in my dresser mirror and growling a bit. Later on I took her to a full-sized mirror and had her look. She seemed to catch on. Only one other time – she growled very briefly at her reflection in the glass on one of my gas fireplaces. But unlike Buckles, she wasn’t afraid of herself!
Interesting…cats only notice themselves if the mirror is on the floor. I’ve never seen one be afraid before, they just want to get behind the mirror to see where the other cat is.
