Having been a hunter and well exposed to guns, my dog is pretty good with thunder. All my dogs have been – the others I raised from puppies and at the first sound of thunder I would walk them if it wasn’t raining yet, with the Dobie we played ball outside, and if we had to stay inside, I would just pet them and play. They learned to ignore it. My two beagles together used to sleep through it and a very loud clap of thunder would make them pick their heads up in annoyance of being awakened. It probably helps that I am not afraid of storms. One dog and I used to go outside and stand on the front porch in all kinds of nasty weather and watch it. Catching them before they become afraid seems to be important.
It kinda reminds me of the Calvin and Hobbes comic where the two main characters are sleeping when they are frightened by a loud crack of thunder, which Calvin thinks is an alien death ray blast.
I had a cat that wasn’t afraid of the thunder and lightening, but terrified if he heard rain on the roof. So where did he spend every rain storm…in the upstairs bathroom where the raindrops were the loudest…and we DO have a basement.

It is only the Dutchmen bowling and yes, they can get noisy. That is what my grandmother said of thunder.

Panel 4 is great! In Panel 5 Paul joins them after another loud KA BOOM!!

Paul will need a KA BOOM follow by a couple of ZZZT’s that light up the room
