    Maybe their pay should be Reduced by the %-age of inflation they allow to occur on their watch.

    In 1989, Congress realised that voting themselves pay raises would be bad optics so they passed a law that gave themselves automatic pay raises. Since then, their salaries have roughly doubled.

    They receive good pay and benefits for doing a marginal job and providing sub standard results— sounds fair and reasonable.

    All congress people should have salaries of at least $1,000,000 for two reasons. Maybe more qualified people might run for office. Maybe they would have less reason to steal money from the government.

    This would not work in the private sector so why should they get to vote on this. Since there is a deficit they all deserve a cut in pay.

    Actually they wrote the law so they automatically get the raise unless they vote against it Guess what they won’t cast that vote
