One of the things I really detest about photography contests.. Most, if not all, of the photos are ‘enhanced’. For once I’d like to see a contest where Photoshop or Lighthouse are banned.. and the entries have to be the original photo. I’d also love to see the color saturation button banned from any editing platform. No sky is ever quite that blue, unless you’re at 10,000ft elevation.
Last fall I joined an online photography course. Although the course was focused (pun fully intended) on learning to use camera settings beyond “Auto,” the instructor also spent time on using software to improve our photos. He explained that you don’t “take” a picture, you “make” a picture. It opened my eyes to a whole new way of looking at my photos.
I swapped out my sister’s prom date pic with Leo DiCaprio and DARE you to tell the difference…BOO-YAH! But I will NEVER use my Photoshop skills for evil…only for fun! ;D

Just for grins, we gave a beach shot of us to a photog friend of ours. My wife looked so good she left me!
