How nature points out the folly of men

Toby’s right. Grasping that a planet is effectively under the control of a single species, that that planet is ours and we are that species, then lining that up against how poorly the planet is being run, is a startling revelation.

It has occurred to me that there really are space aliens among us, guiding our evolutionary progress they sure have been doing a crappy job.

Today’s cartoon is a big ol’ hark back to that famous old Weekly World News headline “World Weather- OUT OF CONTROL!!!” I remember standing in the grocery store checkout line thinking “Who was in control of it before?”

I’d put Eddie and his friends in charge.

I think the squirrels and rats would be fighting it out.

Going by total mass I suspect fungi are in charge. Maybe ants.

Bit of a stretch to say “people” are in charge of the planet. In the big picture.. “we” are just going along for the ride.. and a short one at that. Like many species that came before us.. eventually, we too will disappear and be replaced by some other life form.
