What praise will Pipe Tobacco have for Joel today not that he deserves any and wotta weasel, that he would charge Walt to clean up the mess HE caused ! I know… He’ll blame it on Rufus and tell us that Joel was simply being kind and charitable by not questioning Rufus’s observations. If this had been a real emergency Joel would have been johnny-on-the-spot and commended for it.
I like how Walt keeps up with the times. Things like the fireplace TV channel are kinda nice to have on in the background. We like to watch live feeds also. The Monterey Bay Aquarium has a good one. In the spring and summer the National Park shows bears in Alaska. A few years ago we watched the volcano in the Canary Islands. So much more to watch on tv than just tv shows.
Unfortunately, good-hearted, kind, stalwart and true Joel was once again misled and misdirected by the machinations that of Rufus.
Joel, always working diligently to do what is right and just, was deceived by doofus-Rufus’ alarm call.
Sadly, our hero reacted with speed to try to save and benefit Walt, but if he had only been wearing spectacles, he could have more readily discerned the very literal FIRE was a safe, televised moving picture of FIRE.
So, as always, I am delighted to see the true hero of this comic strip, our professorial, pipe smoking sage, Joel featured. He deserves to be more prominently and frequently featured compared to the automatronic doll and the cluster of big-eyed kids that surround her.
What WOULD be the true cat’s meow (Chef Maurice excluded) would be to have our pipe making hero, Joel, featured in his very own, solo arc!

Joel won’t charge Walt much for cleanup. Altruism on full display. That’s our Joel.
