When David Attenboro’s Birds were on PBS I would set the TV on the floor and two cats would sit and watch spellbound. As one of the birds flew to the right off screen one of the cats reached out to catch it. When she came up empty, she looked at me, her sister, and at her paw in disbelief. Then when the pledge drive came on, they both turned and looked at me like, “WHHHHAAAA?”
As a Title I reading specialist, one of my duties was to help with kindergarten screening at the beginning of each new school year. One of the tests was a photo of an airplane in the sky and a car on the ground. The question was, “Which one is bigger.” Most of the kids had never seen an airplane up close, so they chose the car because to them airplanes were the size of birds.

They’re not bird-sized when they cruise down your street at an altitude of 700 feet or so.
