His chambers! Makes me think of Ebenezer Scrooge’s room in the Muppet’s Christmas Carol.
It’s strange that a 1%er like chief is not available 24/7.
I just use an answering machine on my landline phone and if they can’t leave me a message, then they didn’t need to call me in the first place . .
’"don’t call us… we won’t call you"
Sounds like Brutus just got an easy 30 minutes of pre-approved O.T. by the Chief.
Now I’m confused. Is it the Chief calling me when my caller ID says “UNAVAILABLE”?
Well, you tried. It’s now on the Chief if he’s unhappy with Brutus’ effort.
“Retire to my chambers’ sounds like something Count Dracula (A.K.A Veeblefester the Undead) would say, if Brutus were calling during the day…
I take it it he doesn’t want to answer his question…
I let 99% of my calls go to voice mail
No problem Chief. However, l thought that you might like to know about a Million Dollar sale l am negotiating with a client that wanted an answer by 8:00 am or he was going elsewhere. Have a good night’s sleep….
I just realized that noone is using a cell phone. So, this toon’s arc is back in the 60’s or 70’s? I had thought these situations were contemporary.
Brutus has chambers too – Veeblefester Tea Cozies is a chamber of horrors!
Veeblefester’s management style seems to revolve around employee ego destruction.

Like Major Major Major Major. You can only see him when he’s not there.
This really doesn’t leave a good choice for Brutus except to say goodnight and hope Bossman didn’t really need to hear what he wanted to say/ask.
If it wasn’t already obvious what The Chief thinks of Brutus…
